Kayaking!

When we moved to Savannah I always intended to buy a sea kayak to explore some of the coastal waterways. Between work, the new baby, home renovations and lack of money, 5 years went by and still no kayak.

Steph has been secretly stalking the tell-n-sell listings looking for a good kayak to give me as a birthday or father's day present. She was having trouble doing it secretly though, because she didn't know what kayaks were any good.

Steph's dad has been helping her search for Kayaks and last weekend he sent her a listing for a blue kayak on Craig's list. To see if this boat might be any good she decided to let me check out the listing. Looked good to me! - Monday I met the owner to see the boat and ended up taking it home that night.

Friday and Saturday I took the boat on to the water for it's maiden voyage on the Tivoli River. This is also the inaugural launching from our nearly complete dock. Here are some pictures I took from the event:
Kayak in the Marsh Grass.

Houses Down the River from us.

A Sabal Palmetto on the back side of a hammock that I call "Malluck Island".

A picture of our House from Sweet Hill Creek. The crane is still there to finish the dock work.

My pet snake, Cruiser, was reincarnated as the neighbor's boat.

Here's the River Park down the river from us where people fish and crab.

It was a great trip to explore the river, but I did manage to drop my eyeglasses in the water near our dock. I'll never see those suckers again. Steph, Katie and I went to Pearl vision to pick out a new set of glasses.

I needed a new set of glasses anyway.
